What grade level is your course targeted to in high schools?
Most schools offer our course beginning in grade 9. Due to the popularity of the seminar they follow with our advanced course in subsequent years. Many schools use our course to help attract students to take phys ed in following years. The course is appropriate for any grade level that includes teenage women.
What is the difference between Safe International and offering a martial arts course?
Martial arts techniques quite often take years to master. In a high stress situation such as an attack, any skills used must be practical and easily remembered.
How far ahead do I need to book a seminar?
We do get booked up early, even months ahead, but we do our best to fit in all schools and companies. Usually a call at the beginning of the semester will ensure you get a booking.
Does the school/corporation require any equipment to offer the course?
All we require is a classroom for the safety talk and mats (either wrestling or velcro) for the simulated attacks on the last day. We can tailor a course without mats if necessary.
What if I only have 1 class of students to teach? Will you still come teach?
While many companies will require a minimum number of students, we do our best to fit your class in with another school possibly nearby or the option of offering the whole seminar in one day is a popular option.
Do you teach boys?
Yes we do. We offer a four hour course which is different than the program offered to the girls.
Are there any handouts made available to the students?
We do provide a handout to teachers on material covered during the seminar. We also have a rubrick available
if requested, which can be used to evaluate the simulated attacks. All students will also receive a Certificate of Achievement. Students are also able to sign up for our monthly newsletter which will include student success stories, tips, safe news, etc.
What is the cost?
Call for details. It depends on which program is chosen. We do charge on a per person basis.
Can we videotape the course?
We allow schools to videotape the simulated attacks. This can be valuable in evaluating the students. We do not allow the other days to be videotaped. We do allow pictures to be taken on these days.
