Who’s Behind SAFE Violence Prevention & Self Defence?

Meet Chris Roberts


For over 30 years, Chris Roberts has taught self-defence and violence prevention to more than 200,000 people around the world—from teens and seniors to educators, parents, and entire communities.

He founded SAFE International in 1994 after witnessing a violent assault at age 11—a moment that shaped his life’s mission: to help people stay safe, trust their instincts, and live without fear.



Today, SAFE is globally recognized for its practical, real-world approach to safety—designed for people who may only take one course in their lifetime.

The goal?

To make safety simple, teach it with empathy, and empower people to protect themselves in hours, not years.
