It is Rape, so Call it Rape!

rape"It is Rape, so Call it Rape!"  The moment I bring up the word "rape" most people cringe, but when I bring up the term "sexual assault" people seem a little less apprehensive to talk about it.  Why?  This is something I have thought about for the past 25 years of teaching self-defence but have never written about it in this much depth, but with the #MeToo movement having sparked further discussion the past couple years, I felt it a good time.  When SAFE Internationalâ„¢ teaches self-defense to teenagers in schools, it is not uncommon for a teacher to tell us it is okay to bring up the term "sexual assault," but please do not use the term, "rape." "I Didn't Touch your Sh...t!" - calling him a liar. And on and on with the threats, commands, etc. The angry guy proceeds to stand in front of the motorcycle. See I...
