With upcoming dates booked for us to teach in Birmingham and Edinburgh, UK in 2017 I asked Richard Dimitri to offer his thoughts on why someone might consider participating in a Rich'n Roberts Self Defense Show. Here is what Richard had to say:
Why participate in a Rich n’ Roberts show? It doesn’t matter who you are, what your experience is or what walk of life you come from, the Rich n’ Roberts self defense show is unique and is designed for you.
With over 50 years combined of experience and research, Chris and Rich offer what is arguably the most complete, detailed and effective personal protection workshop ever put together.
Not based on any style or system as self defense is first and foremost a legal term and not a fighting methodology, the materials covered are fundamentally rooted in behavioural psychology and physiology in relation to violence.
Self defense doesn’t just encompass physically fighting back against an armed or unarmed opponent, it goes much deeper than that and the Rich n’ Roberts show leaves no stone uncovered.
From social violence (road rage, bar fight, general disagreements gone physical etc.) to anti-social violence (abduction, bullying, rape, sexual assault, murder, mugging, kidnapping etc.) every potential aspect from prevention to circumvention is covered, dissected and analyzed vis-a-vis each of the participants.
The workshops are kept small (20 peeps max) to maintain both quality and integrity as well as preserve the intimate value of personal experience of sharing through open discussion throughout.
The Rich n’ Roberts experience also goes beyond pure and applied self-defense as the skills acquired in this workshop can and will enhance every aspect of your life as we guarantee (full money back) your satisfaction.
Check out this short excerpt where Rich shares some thoughts on Striking and Close Quarter Tools and how while striking is a huge part of self defense it also requires grounding, distance, and torque which is often taken away in self defense scenarios. At that point one must be familiar with how to use their close quarter tools to end the confrontation. Those tools may include attacking vulnerable targets such as eyes, throat, and other secondary targets and tools like the ears, spitting, biting, cranks, plus other can openers.
In this following clip you can view some of the drills that you can expect to paricipate in if you attend one of our self defense courses in Birmingham or Edinburgh, UK. It addresses the 5 Principles of Physical Retaliation aka "The Shredder" during our ground defense segment. The concepts and principles that apply standing up also apply when one is attacked on the ground.
Thanks and Keep SAFE!
